Mr.D - A short motion design project
Simplicity, creativity, and bold illustrations for humourous motion design short projects are right up my alley. I love giving life to design and to make people laugh. Combining this with everyday randomness and I'm thriving. In this super short motion design project, I decided to give some life to a previous character from one of my earlier projects as we were exploring the basic techniques in motion design and After Effects.
The concept
I've always been eager to learn as much as I can and I believe there are no shortcuts to growing as a person, a designer, or around anything in life really. Combining this with my love for Motion Design and short fun stories I decided to take a rather easy homework and push it a bit further.
In this assignment, we were asked to utilize everything we had learned about the basic motion design techniques of a jumping ball and create a short bouncing object from scratch. I thought why not take it a bit further and bring one of my previous designs to life as well as adding some sound effects.
A fat 2D illustration with a bold color palette was implemented to strengthen the concept in itself.
The design
From concept to export this 4-second motion design piece is a short story of a character named Mr. D with semi-broken glasses jumping up and down before vanishing in his spaceship. Both Mr. D and the spaceship as well as the color palette come from my leaflet design for Noroff. All illustrations are designed by myself, designed in Illustrator, and edited and rendered in Adobe After Effects.

Linking the colors between the two frames to create contrast results in a stronger motion story.
